After I picked up my friend Hanna at the station and she put her stuff in the guesthouse, we were told about a big festival happening that day. As we still had the day off, we decided to go check it out. It was a few kilometers away, and they told us to go by bus, we thought we’d be better off walking there. We followed the river (its real name is Kamogawa/Kamo River, but we just called it ‘the’ river ;)), stopped at a few places on our way because we thought we had enough time, had lunch somewhere, and then… arrived at the temple too late. Apparently it was a moving festival, so they’d already moved on to a different temple.
Since we had already come this far, we visited the temple anyway.
We followed the river again on our way back, by that time it’d already become our favourite place in Kyoto. ^^ That’s why, when the sun had gone, we decided on another walk along the river, with its amazing night atmosphere.
